Halfway through the trip already?!?!

We cannot believe that we are already halfway through the trip. Time goes by so fast when you are serving and loving others. Today was another great day! Some members of our team had the chance to tutor students who are now out of school because of Ash Wednesday. The whole island of Jamaica celebrates Ash Wednesday with all the schools being closed, banks are closed and people are off from work. So the kids here at the children's home are off from school for the rest of the week. Which is good news for us because we get more time with them :) The rest of the team painted dorm rooms where interns and teams stay. We were able to do two coats in 4 rooms! Not too bad.. For dinner we had a traditional Jamaican meal which was incredible! It was jerk chicken, rice, greens and festival bread. AMAZING!!! We are bringing home some recipes. :) Service tonight was great with the kids. Our team had the honor to be able to share for the whole service. Jesse and Valerie lead worship, Louie did a special song and Pastor Katelynn shared from the Word of God. She shared with the kids about "Exercising Their Faith." How to have faith in God, how to hear His voice, and to know that He can use anybody who is willing and they are never to young to hear from God. At the end of the message kids came forward to receive prayer if they wanted it and a lot responded. God has such a special plan for each and every child here. It was great to see God working in their lives. Since the kids are off of school for the rest of the week, we have the privilege of taking 30 of them to an outing for the day tomorrow! Can't wait to spend time with them all day- just loving them the way Jesus does. Thank you for all of your prayers and support. Talk soon - Blessings, The Jamaica Team

Safely in Jamaica

Our team has safely made it here to Jamaica! Sorry we haven't had a chance to post anything until now. We have been so excited to be here and busy with different projects! Everything is going great and everyone on our team is doing fine.. Being up here in the blue mountains at the City of Refuge is just amazing. Gods presence is so evident. To be able to get away from our daily lives and to help someone else out of your own country is such a blessing. To see how others live and to broaden your perspective of what life is and to see that America isn't just the end all and be all of existence. Yes, it is the great county and we are honored and thankful for our freedom but the world is so much bigger then what we experience everyday. So far the members of our team has been able to help in the school, clean the classrooms, cut medal to make frames for the windows, tutor children after school and organize the library and computer room for the children. Steve, Kim, Steve and Samantha Puffpaff have been such a huge blessing to us all! They are such amazing people of faith and they are taking good care of us. The weather has been beautiful and sunny everyday in the 80's. We are encouraging the cooks here at the children's home to make a City of Refuge Cookbook because the food it THAT good!!! We are bringing home some of the blue mountain coffee they are selling which is like nothing you have ever tasted if you are interested in buying some to support the children here at the home. All the proceeds go to the children and we have seen that firsthand. Also, some of the children needs sponsors to provide for their needs at the home if you are interested in that as well. We will be bringing more information home with us about that. Tomorrow our team will have the opportunity to be involved with the church service. Jesse will be leading worship with Valerie and Louie and Pastor Katelynn will be sharing from the Word and heart of God. Keep us in your prayers! So excited for what God has in store for us for our work day tomorrow! Keep us in your prayers and we will keep in touch- Many blessings, The Jamaica Team

GET PLUGGED IN TOMORROW!!!!

Don't forget that TOMORROW is orientation and training for ANYONE who is interested in getting involved and volunteering with us! Anyone who is interested in getting more information about us is invited to come as well!! It will be held at the Berkshire Dream Center from 1:00-3:00! We will have coffee on! :)

The more people that get involved, the more streets we can cover, and the more lives we can touch!!! For just 4 hours a month, you can be part of our Adopt A Block team and have such a huge impact in your local community! That is less than 1% of your time! I would challenge you to give more of yourself this year for someone else. Can you give at least 1% of your time for others???

Scripture for Today

God knows everything we need even before we pray and ask Him to hear our requests. God tells us that we are to present our requests to Him, and He will answer them! We don't have, because we don't ask. This also helps us with our faith, because we are taking that step and trusting our needs in His hands.

Matthew 7:7&8-
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."

It is important to remember that God will ALWAYS ANSWER, but how He answers may not be exactly the answer that we want. For those who trust in Him, He is always looking out for our best interest because He is our heavenly Father. The answer will come. Maybe not right away, but be patient and remember that God hears you and you can rest in knowing that He will take care of you.
Ask God to hear your requests, and seek Him with all of your heart. Then, step out in faith and start knocking on doors of opportunity and trust God will open the ones that He wants to open for you!!!!!!!

For those who do not trust in Jesus, you cannot blame Him for what happens in your life. If you are not following Him then you are choosing to not travel on the safe path that He provides for you. You are choosing to journey from it and you will end up on very dangerous terrain and in places that you don't want to be.

It is similar to if you were a competitor in a race. If you choose to not stay on the course outlined for you by the event staff, you cannot blame them if you choose to journey from it and you get hurt or get lost. The choices you make are yours. God allows us to have free will, because He loves us. If you choose to journey off on your own, then you are on your own and then cannot blame God. Thank God though that you can always make the decision to come back to the right course and ask Him to be with you in this life. He will ALWAYS take you back!!!!
